Location
Pigeon River Campground is conveniently located in East Tennessee near Interstate 40, making it easy to reach from cities such as Asheville, NC and Knoxville, TN. In addition to being just an hour away from each of these cities, our campground is an easy 45 minute drive from Gatlinburg, TN. Guests of the campground enjoy our beautiful environment and unique location that is literally only steps away from the Pigeon River!
Campsites
Pigeon River Campground provides the opportunity to enjoy camping in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. There are 20 campsites available for tent camping, as well as group tent pads available for rent. All of our Smoky Mountain campsites have their own grill, picnic table, and fire pit to enjoy. Campers can end their day with a delicious meal on the grill followed by a campfire as the stars come out. In addition, campers have access to our private facilities for showers and restrooms.
Cabins
For those guests who may not be hardcore campers but still want the experience of staying in the great outdoors, Pigeon River Campground offers six riverside cabins complete with heat and air conditioning! Our Smoky Mountain cabins can accommodate up to five guests in one double bed and three twin beds. Other cabin amenities include a refrigerator, microwave, ceiling fan, and a covered front porch with chairs that faces the Pigeon River. Guests at our cabins also enjoy their own picnic table, charcoal grill, fire pit, and all of the other great amenities of our Smoky Mountain campground.
Campground Amenities
We have many delightful amenities for our guests to enjoy, making Pigeon River Campground an ideal destination for families. Spend some time at our refreshing swimming pool where you can cool off in the water, or kick back to relax on the poolside lounge chairs and tanning deck. In addition to our pool, we offer a sand volleyball court, horseshoes, cornhole, and other games to keep you entertained throughout the day. We also provide Wifi access so you can stay connected to your friends and family back home, as well as check weather forecasts and plan your activities in the area. If you happen to forget anything from home, our general camp store supplies essential items such as plates, napkins, snacks, and drinks. Of course, the store also stocks all of the ingredients necessary to make s’mores!
Local Activities
Since Pigeon River Campground is situated on the northeast side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we are just a short distance from the many scenic hiking trails of the Smokies and Pisgah National Forest! In addition, our Smoky Mountain campground is just a few hundred yards from Smoky Mountain Outdoors, where you can enjoy one of their fantastic white water rafting excursions. Whether you want to take a wild ride on the Upper Pigeon River or a relaxing float down the Lower Pigeon River, Smoky Mountain Outdoors is there for all of your white water rafting needs.
