5 Fun Camping Games for Families to Play at Our Smoky Mountain Campground

One of the reasons why so many families love our Smoky Mountain campground is because of all the fun things to do! In addition to traditional campground experiences like cookouts and campfires under the stars, your family can take advantage of our recreational equipment to play games or get creative with some games of your own! Here are 5 fun camping games for families to play at our Smoky Mountain campground:

1. Washer Toss

We have all the equipment you need for this popular outdoor game, so get the gang together to toss some washers and compete for the highest score! Both kids and adults love this classic game that is similar to horseshoes, and it is the perfect way to wind down after a busy day of hiking through the Smokies or white water rafting on the Pigeon River. If your kids are new to this game, this is also a great opportunity to introduce them to washer toss!

2. Cornhole

Cornhole is another classic outdoor game, and all you need is at least 2 players, as we have provided the game equipment! While you can always make up your own rules, the basic goal is to toss the bean bags into the holes of the cornhole board. Start the game by separating into two teams with one or two people on each team, depending on how many are playing. Take turns tossing the bean bags, and if the bag goes into the hole it is worth 3 points! You can also score 1 point if the bean bag lands on the board without going in the hole. Play to any total to see who is the champion cornhole player in your family!

3. Frisbee

There are endless ways you can play a game of frisbee, or you can simply toss the frisbee back and forth for pure entertainment! One of the games that you can play with a frisbee is the distance competition, which is simply a free throw challenge to see who can make their frisbee go the furthest distance.

4. Charades

Charades is a great game you can play indoors or outdoors, and it doesn’t involve any equipment at all! This game forces you to be creative and is a guaranteed way to get your entire family laughing! When you are ready to play, simply write down the names of celebrities, cartoon characters, movies, television programs, and even camping related activities onto a folded slip of paper. Put the papers into a bowl, and then take turns acting out the item on the paper without using your voice. Then see if your family can guess what is on the paper!

5. Card Games

Therefore, you will want to make sure that you bring some card games that you can play inside of your tent or RV too! Card games are an easy way to relax and help kids to develop their concentration or memory. Some of the popular card games for families include Uno, Go Fish, Phase 10, Old Maid, and Rummy.
